Behruz is a fictional country located between Iran and Afghanistan. The language of all three countries is Farsi, a language Judy learned when she travelled by Landrover in that region in the late sixties and when she lived and worked in Iran in the seventies. The culture of Behruz is based on the cultures of Iran and Afghanistan as they were then, before those countries were beset by political unrest and war. Judy grew up and went to college in Minnesota. She and her husband Jim now live in a small town in Oregon. When not writing (well, she's nearly always writing), she likes to read, travel, swim, garden, and spend time with her grandchildren.
Judy's first career was designing computer software. Since retiring from that field, she's worked as a childbirth educator, doula, and now, writer.
